It has been revealed through a blog post that, Google has announced that it is going to shut down its Google Pay app in America, from June 4, 2024. The move aims to simplify the Google Payments offering by transferring all features to the Google wallet platform. That means its old version will not work. Google is bringing its payment services on a single platform. For which the tech giant is focusing on Google Wallet. It is said that app services will continue in Singapore and India for now.
When & Why is Google Shutting down its Google Pay app ?
Google Pay payment app will shut down in the US from June 4, 2024. Google has given this information through a blog post. The Google Company says that it is going to make its payment services more easy. These payment service will be available at one place in which Google Wallet will be used. Google Wallet is become more popular among users than Google Pay in 180 countries. GPay app will continue to operate as it was operating in India and Singapore.
Which Services will remain operational ever after Google Pay app is closed ? What else can't you do ?
The Google company is talking about continuing some of its services even after the Google Pay app is closed in America. Users will be able to use some of its important functions like payment management, in-store payment but this will be possible only through Google Wallet. Peer to peer (P2P) payments, balance management directly in the app, and receiving offers and deals will not be possible on the app.
What is Google focus ?
Google Wallet is now going to become the main focus of the company. Google Wallet will be the primary app for secure payments for digital items like store payments, tap and pay, transit cards, driver licenses, state IDs, etc.
What will happen to Google Balance after Google Pay is Closed ?
Users who have balance in Google Pay will have the option to transfer their funds to their bank account. This can be done through Google Pay website also after June 4, 2024.
Why is Google company focusing on Google Wallet ?
Google Wallet was started by the company in 2011. After that many changes took place in it. Android Pay came in 2015, then in 2018 it was merged with Google Pay. Now Google Wallet is becoming more popular. Apart from payment, it is also being used for many other functions which include transport pass, state ID, driver license, virtual car key.
